Critiques are scary. They can feel like you are being pulled apart when you are most vulnerable. It is interesting that we create work for an audience, but also have some fear of sharing the work with that very same audience.

A lot of art is like putting your heart on your sleeve. That is exactly why it can be so beautiful and powerful, but having any kind of criticism about it can be daunting.

Yet, without any feedback, we just wouldn’t know how we were doing.

Most educational institutions will use critiques as a way of sharing and discussing your progress. This is especially true of university. Preparing now for that time is a really good idea, that way it won’t come as such a big shock.
